Such a beautiful space and interesting concept. A cute mini onsen filled with art. You pay for the use through a vending machine (you can also buy towels if you don’t have one with you - a towel is required to use the baths). The owners are really friendly and they accept people with tattoos. Also check out the souvenirs you can buy too.
A rather unique and special place that is a must in Naoshima. There’s nothing more relaxing than scrubbing up and soaking in a clean, large hot bath at the end of the day.
Westerners (like me), please follow the Japanese custom of making sure you scrub your entire body carefully before you share the communal bath. For some reason there are no instructive signs here and the staff doesn’t alert you. I’ve witnessed several westerners just undress and jump in the water without washing. 🚫
We got some photos since nobody was there. The bath was designed (or redesigned) by the same artist, shinro ohtake, that did the Haisha house on the other side of the island.
Bring your own towel to save 500¥. Cute souvenirs available
The perfect finale for a visit to Naoshima. You have a lovely hot soak, surrounded by art. The staff is great and kind and does speak English. Towels can be purchased and when leaving you are even offered a plastic bag to take it with you.
The place is clean and in all it's quirkiness extremely will tended for.
Beautiful arty Onsen for men and women.
It’s decorated very colorful and in the inside you can see a big elephant 🐘 watching the bath.
Please follow the Japanese onsen rules. Inform yourself about this etiquette before entering it.
You can buy a lot of nice souvenirs at the counter.
My first time at a public bath. Wow it was great. Fun artwork everywhere. Clean and beautiful. My Japanese is pretty good, so I don't know how it would be for non-Japanese speakers, but for us the staff was helpful and the steps were easy. Bring your own towel to save yourself 500 yen per person. Bath fee was 660 yen per person on top of that. Well worth it!
I loved heading down to I Love Yu before dinner each night I’ve spending here in Naoshima. You only have one choice in bath but it is hot, and relaxes you completely. The decor matches the artistic nature of the island, and the bath has a glass floor with collages underneath which is interesting.
What I found most unexpected was how good the branding is as well as the souvenirs you can pick up at the front desk. They’re cute, quirky and all things I actually want in my house.
Amazing experience, the bath is an artwork on its own. This onsen is tattoo friendly. My both arms are completely covered and this was no problem! If you don't have a towel, you can buy one for ¥500 and keep it as souvenir.
Unique and amazing experience. I've been to very few places where you can feel such a special experience: a mix between tradition, comfort/pleasing and art appreciation. In the end it is just a public bath renovated by Otaku Shinro.
